The H-D Screamin’ Eagle factory racing team claimed the top two podium spots at MotoAmerica’s King of the Baggers at Road America, June 13, unseating Indian Motorcycles from the podium positions. Kyle Wyman gave H-D its first win in the class, and brother Travis Wyman, also aboard a Road Glide, took second place on his team debut. Hayden Gillim took the final podium spot on a Vance & Hines Street Glide, securing the sweep for Harley at Road America.
“To win for the factory is incredible,” Wyman gushed after the race. “One-two for the Wyman brothers, one-two for Harley-Davidson, it couldn’t be any better. It just feels amazing..”
Sadly, for Kyle Wyman, he broke his left arm in the Honos Superbike race later that day, and early indications suggest he will require surgery and be unable to compete for the championship in the final race next month, July 9-11 at Laguna Seca near Monterey, Calif.
The H-D Factory team faces the prospect of running without their star rider, resting their hopes on Gillim who sits second in the championship, 16 points behind Wyman. Tyler O’Hara, winner of the first round of the series at Road Atlanta aboard his Indian Challenger, suffered a DNF in Wisconsin, jeopardizing his run for the championship, although he’s just 4 points behind Gillim. The highest-placing Indian at Road America was the fifth-place result scored by Frankie Garcia.
