While at the 85th annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, swing by the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame to check out Pearl’s Jam, an inaugural event celebrating women in motorcycling.

Taking place Monday, Aug. 4, Pearl’s Jam honors Pearl Hoel, a cofounder of the Sturgis Rally. The event will be open all day for attendees. The day will start with the Pearl Award Presentation to recognize a lifetime achievement by women in powersports.

“What started as a birthday party for Gloria Struck will now be one of the most impactful women’s events in the industry,” said Marilyn Stemp, museum board member and Hall of Fame honoree. “One highlight will be the presentation of the Pearl Award, which is the most prestigious recognition of a woman in powersports. We are so happy to have it as one of many elements of Pearl’s Jam.”

Throughout the day, there will be meet-and-greets and information sessions hosted by industry nobles to discuss their artwork, motorcycle safety, riding skill, moto culture, and more. At midday, Gloria Struck’s 100th birthday celebrations will begin to honor a longtime member of the Motor Maids and author of Gloria: A Lifetime Motorcyclist. Attendees will also get to see a preview of the upcoming feature film Iron Lilly, about Lillian Farrow, the first female Harley-Davidson dealer.

A painting by Ray Dea will be unveiled during the Pearl’s Jam event and added to the museum’s permanent collection. The Jessi Combs Foundation will be present to meet with attendees and host an exhibit honoring Combs’ achievements in broadcast and racing. Karen and Bill Davidson, daughter and son of Harley-Davidson’s chief styling officer, Willie G. Davidson, will be present to meet attendees and talk about Willie’s memoir, Ride Free.

Attendees can expect to see many notable faces at Pearl’s Jam. Participants include motorcycle and car painter Theresa Contreras, author and publisher Cris Summer-Simmons, photographers and artists Olivia and Alexa Jacobs, safety educator Vicki SanFelipo, and publisher Marilyn Stemp. Hosts of Open Road Radio Gina Woods and Penny Osiecki will guide attendees through the day.

There’s no fee to attend Pearl’s Jam at the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame, and museum entrance will be discounted for the day. Find more information at the museum’s website.
