Cardo Systems, maker of helmet communications systems like the Cardo Packtalk Edge and Packtalk Pro, has announced results of its sustainability mission since implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance principles in 2021. These changes have contributed to a 40% reduction in emissions in 2024 compared to 2021.
One change includes the introduction of downloadable digital product guides in place of paper copies. Switching to digital guides results in less paper being used and lighter-weight boxes to ship. The boxes have also been redesigned to decrease size by a third, meaning more units can be shipped per pallet to reduce the number of shipments required. The new folding design of the boxes cuts raw material needed by 77%.

Cardo has also removed nonessential packing components like extra cardboard and plastic inserts, as well as introducing recyclable materials. Packages are now curated with soy ink instead of traditional petroleum.
Furthering its commitment to the environment, in 2024 Cardo decided to lease and rent hybrid or electric vehicles for business operations in place of gas-fueled vehicles.
“We recognize the unique responsibility we bear towards the environment, our committees, and our stakeholders,” said Adrian Farja, vice president of operations and engineering at Cardo. “Our sustainability mission statement reflects our dedication to creating a positive impact and contributing towards a more sustainable future.”
Earlier this year, Cardo Systems also announced a mental health campaign called “Your Ride. Your Recharge.” The campaign supported the Motorcycle Relief Project with a $10,000 donation and 10 Packtalk Edge comms systems, with the goal of honoring and encouraging military veterans and first responders by providing recreational motorcycling experiences to offer relief.
American Rider applauds Cardo for taking action with these initiatives and looks forward to Cardo’s future plans and products. Learn more about the Cardo Packtalk Pro in our “AR Tested” review, and visit the Cardo website for more information.
