An early Christmas present for our office Sportster was delivered today: The Solo XL Luggage Rack from Motherwell. The package included the rack, foam, metal and plastic washers, and a bolt.
I’ve been commuting with the bike all summer long and the saddlebags were taking a toll on the rear fender. I put the rack on right away and it took me about 15 minutes total, with five minutes of fender cleaning (gotta look pretty for the picture), five for finding a matching nut for the included bolt and five for the actual install. It could not have been any easier.
The rack is made from solid steel, TIG welded, hand polished and then chromed to a show-quality finish, and its sleek and minimalistic design offers plenty of ways to attach tie-downs, straps or bungee cords to pack up many things that might not fit in the saddlebags or are too heavy to carry in a backpack.
