Twisted pleasures
Renegade Wheels labels their new Whistler as a “directional vortex” layout. And that terminology describes this wheel just about as well as any other. The Whistler is offered in diameters from 16″–26″ and widths ranging from 2.15″ up through a 14″ bad-ass version. They come chromed, in black ebony, black powder coat or a variety of custom colors on special request. Pricing varies according to size, application and finish.

Slip-on something sexy
While two-into-one exhaust systems are not new, the last such OEM item on a Harley Touring model was the 1967 Shovelhead. Only in 2010 did they rethink the concept and launch a 2:1 design for the Street Glide and Road Glide. The good folks at SuperTrapp were quick to jump on the change and are now offering their 2010 SE Series Slip-on Mufflers that replaces the stock unit with ease. With a MSRP of $249, the 2010 SE is fabricated with a chrome-plated steel shell encasing steel internals consisting of a rebuildable muffler and replaceable core. The baffle is engineered to increase both horsepower and torque with a satisfying low rumble that is only 3dB louder than stock.

Hooking up
The greatest innovation in motorcycling (after the electric start) has to be the bungee cord. But the simple shock cord can also be one of the most irritating of inventions, especially when it comes to the damage it can cause due to scratched paint and chrome surfaces. The Bungeemate is a cargo tie-down system designed to solve this problem on 2003– 2010 Softails and most any Harley using 3/8″ fender rail attachment bolts. The Bungeemate system is actually two individual parts that can be used separately. The Bungee Base is a chrome knob with a machined taper that uses the stock fender bolt to secure it in place. The Bungee Peg actually replaces the fender bolt and protrudes far enough to provide the necessary clearance to prevent scratched surfaces. When used in tandem, the Peg fits through the Base and allows as many as three bungee cords to be attached in a single location. Sold separately in sets of two, both the Base and Peg retail for $24.99 each.

One slick slicker
Although not technically a slicker, with Harley-Davidson MotorClothes extending a “Guaranteed to Keep You Dry” promise, their new Men’s FXRG Rain Gear comes awful close to the protection offered by that yellow attire made famous by cops directing traffic in nasty weather. Constructed of waterproof and breathable 100-percent nylon Gore-Tex Paclite, both the pant and jacket feature sealed seams, elastic cuffs and waistband and Velcro storm flap closures. Nighttime visibility is increased by the use of 3M Scotchlite reflective accents. The Rain Pant goes for $255 while the jacket is listed at $295. Available in sizes from small to 5XL, each comes with a storage bag.

Gotcher back
Designed to complement Dyna Glides, Street Bobs, Fat Bobs and Super Glides, this new C&C Motorcycle 2Up Seat with Removable Backrest starts with a hand-laid, high-strength fiberglass pan that mates with the frame to provide a low profile. The pan is then covered with a specialty carpet and topped with a high-density polyurethane that supplies comfort while maintaining a sleek profile. The rider’s panel is a contoured bucket that is 12 1/2″ wide with a 7″ lumbar pad, while the passenger seat measures 9″ across. The product is finished in either leather or a marine grade vinyl with a huge variety of top-stitch designs available.

Load and tow
It’s hard to justify giving valuable garage space to a motorcycle trailer that’s only going to be used a couple of times a year. Jeff Trenk feels he has the solution in The Cycle Hitch. Engineered to fit almost all bike brands and models, it installs easily on any four-wheeled vehicle with a receiver hitch. One of the most notable features is the ability to load a bike single-handed—simply ride up the small ramp that is supplied with the unit, allow the front wheel to drop securely into the Hitch’s cradle, shift the bike into neutral, secure with tie-down straps and remove the ramp. The ramp is small enough to be stored in the trunk of any car. Actually the entire unit weighs under 50 pounds, so it can be removed and stored in the same space when not in use. Despite its weight, it can accommodate bikes up to 1,200 pounds. Retailing for $499, the Cycle Hitch comes with a 99-year warranty—and that’s a lot of hauling.
