Since it’s my birthday, it’s turned out to be a tuff day to start a project. Especially one like this. Then again, it’s also been perfect in terms of reaching out. This is George. At 26 years old, he is the most open, unguarded and honest soul I think I’ve ever met. I told him about this project, and asked how he felt about the possibility of being exposed to the world in such a huge way. He shrugged. “You know, my family’s aware of who I am, my parents already think I’m a loser so really, it’s no big deal. Everyone knows I’m an addict. I’ve been clean for 16 days, but I’m not going to go back to rehab. I think there is probably someone else who could benefit better and needs that space. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it, but it costs a lot of money and you know, it’s cool. I wanna do a 90-90 program, which is like, 90 meetings in 90 days, and I think I can do that if I get in the right situation. I think it’s really good to work the 12-step program while you heal, very therapeutic.” As an ADHD diagnosed kid, his exposure to drugs was in his early teens and by 14 he was already abusing his meds.

“I like meth, it’s my favorite, heroin is actually my second love. But really, I just love the pop that comes with the needle. I’m a purist, why beat around the bush, if I’m going to do this, I’m going to be all in. Why smoke that shit, it’s such a waste. But being clean is great. I’m loving being clean.” George, you’re more than you know and I wish you all the best in your journey.
