Indian Motorcycles Introduces eFTR Mini
A new Indian for $500? Yep, the eFTR Mini has the Indian logo on what appears to be a fuel tank but is actually a small electric motorcycle made for kids. Following the introduction last year of the eFTR Jr e-bike, the Mini is designed for smaller kids looking for an entry point into powered motorcycles, priced at $499.99.
The new Mini version carries over the styling of the championship-winning FTR750 flat-track racebike that has won every AFT title since it was introduced in 2017. It’s 20% smaller and 50% lighter than the eFTR Jr, making it more accessible to smaller and younger riders.
The eFTR Mini’s 18.4-inch seat height is nearly 5 inches lower than the eFTR Jr that costs $749.99. Rather than the Jr’s 36-volt system, the Mini uses a 24-volt rechargeable battery to reach 14 mph in its high-power setting and 10 mph in low mode. Indian claims a running time of up to 30 minutes before needing recharging.
Costs were kept down by eschewing the Jr’s suspension in favor of a rigid architecture, helping reduce weight from 110 pounds to just 55 pounds, making it easier for small kids to muscle around or for parents to toss it in the back of their car or truck. The Jr’s dual-disc brake setup gets downgraded to a single rear drum brake in the Mini, which has a maximum rider weight of 140 pounds compared to the Jr’s 175 pounds.

Measuring nearly five inches lower than the eFTR Jr, the eFTR Mini’s 18.4-inch seat height accommodates shorter riders eight years and older in low mode, and 13 and over in high mode. The eFTR Mini was designed around a proven electric powertrain, as its 24-volt rechargeable battery runs up to 30 minutes and can reach up to 14 mph in high mode and 10 mph in low mode. The bike’s strong steel tube frame provides a solid foundation for beginning riders, while its rear brake offers premium stopping power.
