Indian’s VP of product technology, racing, and service, Gary Gray, has been inducted into the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame in honor of his achievements and contributions to motorcycling throughout his three-decade career.

Gray has held his current position at Indian for the past eight years. Throughout his time at Indian Motorcycle and Victory, Gray has made significant contributions through his expertise in engineering and product development.

“Gary’s contributions, not just to Indian Motorcycle but to the entire industry, have been nothing short of extraordinary,” said Aaron Jax, VP of Indian Motorcycle. “His leadership, innovative vision, technical expertise, and relentless dedication have not only elevated our products and our brand but have truly shaped how millions of people experience the sport of motorcycling. We are incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone with him and deeply grateful for the lasting legacy he continues to build.”

Getting Indian Motorcycle back into racing, Gray spearheaded the development of the Indian FTR750, which won eight consecutive American Flat Track championships and helped Jared Mees surpass Scott Parker as winningest flat-tracker in Grand National Championship history. Only a rules change for the 2025 season could put an end to the FTR750’s reign on the track.

Under Gray’s leadership, Indian has also achieved three King Of The Bagger titles, with Indian Challengers competing against Harley-Davidson’s Road Glides. The 2025 Indian factory team racers include Loris Baz (new to KOTB), Tyler O’Hara (two-time champ), and Troy Herfoss (2024 champ), with other teams also racing Challengers.

Serving as Indian’s product director before his current position, he launched the 2014 Indian Chief, Chieftain, and Roadmaster, and he was an important part in the design and development of the Thunderstroke engine.

“It’s an incredible honor to be recognized alongside some of the most iconic and influential figures in motorcycling,” said Gray. “To be included in the Hall of Fame is deeply humbling and one of the proudest moments of my career. I’ve dedicated my life to this industry because I believe in the power of motorcycling to inspire, connect, and push the limits of what’s possible. I look forward to many more years of driving innovation, championing the sport, and giving back to the community that has given me so much.”

Congratulations to Indian Motorcycle and Gary Gray on this achievement. Find more info at the Indian Motorcycle website.
