Wahoo! April’s THUNDER PRESS  20th anniversary cover was a master feat in layout and I just gotta say, great job you photo-editing dudes and dudettes! Wowzers! It looked amazing—just how many shots did it take to make up the cover in April? Hope lots of you guys and gals found yourself on the front-page collage! And what a cool tribute to all the THUNDER PRESS  contributors for the past 20 years; I sure recognized a lot of names. And here are my own thanks to all the great folks who have helped me with their personal contributions to the Hazy on the Details column since I’ve been here too. Thanks for your help—I wouldn’t be here without you!… So let’s get this month’s show on the road starting with ABATE Local 23’s Biker Rights Poker Run May 19, starting at the new Biker Supply House on Redlands Boulevard in San Bernardino and ending up at Barile’s Pizza in Yucaipa. Registration starts at 9:30… Another worthy cause is the USO Ontario’s Charity Car & Motorcycle Show on May 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the old airport terminal, 1940 E. Moore Way. I haven’t really been over there since the main portion of the airport moved, so it will be entertaining to see what they’ve done with the property!… Want to get some great advertisement for your company? Flagman Frank might just have a solution. He needs sponsors for the upcoming 4th annual Freedom Coalition Fest in Irvine. Get your name on event T-shirts and advertising banners and help sponsor a great event while you’re at it. For info and pricing, please contact hurricane@freedomcoalitionfest.com or Jeff at 714.331.9362. Frank is also still looking for vendors to join in this huge July 21 event—if you fit that bill, give Frank a call at 714.745.0948… And while I’m nattering on about Flagman Frank—dang! Hope you’re feeling better!… I chatted with Trisha Marshall from San Diego Harley-Davidson about the recent good press accorded to the dealership from none other than The Harley-Davidson Motor Company. San Diego H-D is the recipient of the Bar and Shield Bronze Circle of Recognition Award for 2011. This year’s award was based on their customer service and satisfaction evaluations. This will be their third award in as many years. As quoted from Mike Kennedy, Harley-Davidson’s vice president of North American sales, “One of the primary reasons the Harley-Davidson brand has such tremendous customer loyalty is because of the efforts of dealers such as New York Myke. We’re really proud to have New York Myke as part of the Harley-Davidson family.” I chatted with New York Myke quite a few years ago when I was working on a state rally committee and I’ve gotta agree, he’s a great guy and super to work with! San Diego Harley-Davidson, located at 5600 Kearny Mesa Road, San Diego, CA 92111, has been in business in the San Diego area since 1993… Carl Hoffman from Slappin’ Leather tells me, “Every weekend is a sale!” With a new line of leather apparel, which is awesome and at a fantastic price, and the new LS2 Helmets that fit like no other, he’s got something for all of you!… Congratulations to Marcus VanCleave of 29 Palms, Valley V-Twin’s latest Facebook “Winner of a Completely Free Oil Change For Your Harley-Davidson Motorcycle.” Halle says to be sure to “like” their Facebook page to be entered in the next round… Nancy Baker, sorry; I somehow got your name wrong in March’s column. I Just have no idea how Nancy turned into Mary from one sentence to the next!… One of my body shops, Jim Conklin Hot Rods, asked me to check with my readers to see if any of you might have a reasonably-priced enclosed motorcycle trailer for sale. Give Jim a call up in God’s country, Big Bear, at 909.866.5747 if you can help him out… Thanks to Brian “Ducky” Nelson at Downtown Cycle in Fontana for getting my FXLR back up in record-breaking time. And the drop-off when you were done was sure appreciated, as I had out-of-town guests and couldn’t negotiate the trip to and from Fontana. As always, Downtown Cycle is my local “fix-my-ride guy.” He always gives me a great price and makes repairs fairly painless. Downtown Cycle is located in Fontana on Foothill and Beech—give ’em a call at 909.829.2987—you’ll be happy I recommended them!… Got an e-mail from Jim in Arizona inviting you all to ABATE of Arizona Yavapai Chapter’s Run to the Hills 2 on Saturday, May 19. The cost is only $10 per person, with run pins going to the first 300 sign-ins. Gates open at 10 a.m., but unfortunately for Jim and his group, he didn’t tell me where! However, using my favorite ride search, I went to THUNDER PRESS ’ online calendar at www.thunderpressed.wpengine.com and found it! So, look for this event at Gold King Mine, 1000 Perkinsville Rd., Jerome, AZ. Contact Longhair James at 928.830.6356 for more info… I always chat up the biker types that come into my work and got into a conversation with Pappy Mike on the merits of various repair shops. He recommended you guys check out Wright Brothers Customs at 31789 Outer Highway 10 in Redlands. He says Dennis is a great guy to do biz with, so give them a call at 909.794.1593… One more reminder from Cindy Gano, who wants me to give you guys one last heads-up for the mid-week 2nd annual Highway Workers Memorial Ride May 8–9… And last, but never least, a hi ya to my Cookie Lee extraordinaire girl Susie Jarvis. Love Cookie Lee stuff? Get hold of Susie at 951.315.0913. We’ll be hosting the Ladies of CREW Bunco night together and I’m looking forward to it because she’s so much fun!… That’s about it for me this month. I always tell you guys to send me your info, whatever it may be. But be sure to include all the pertinent details along with it—dates, locations; you get my drift! Don’t make me work too hard; I may not always be up to the quest. See all next month—enjoy your ride!
