Legendary leaper Bubba Blackwell is jumping again

Do you know your Evel Knievel trivia? If so, answer this: Who broke all of Evel’s car-, truck- and bus-jumping records on a period Harley-Davidson?

The answer is James “Bubba” Blackwell, the 52-year-old stuntman from Alabama who began his jumping career in his early 30s by besting Evel’s 19-car leap with his own 20-car jump at a Boston-area Harley-Davidson shop in 1998. A year later, Blackwell bested Knievel’s 14-bus jump at Kings Island Amusement Park near Cincinnati with a 15-bus leap, and then beat Evel’s remaining record of 50 stacked cars with a 52-car jump on his – Blackwell’s – 41st birthday.

Blackwell retired a few years ago but is back jumping again, and you can see him do it live in June and September at the following locations: June 22 at the Roundhouse Rally in Altoona, Pennsylvania; Sept. 14 at Wildcat H-D in London, Kentucky; and Sept. 21 at Green Mountain Road H-D in O’Fallon, Illinois.
