The 15th annual Quail MotoFest showcased an impressive lineup of motorcycles at The Quail Golf Club in Carmel, California, on May 17. Drawing more than 1,000 attendees, this event also included a beer garden, food trucks, live music, accessories, and more.

Out of 13 classes, the Best of Show award was given to Clyde Crouch and his 1937 Indian Arrow. Three spotlight classes were also included this year: Tribute to Yoshimura, Italian Innovation by Bimota, and Celebrating 45 Years of the BMW GS.
The Tribute to Yoshimura class included the Honda CB72 built by Hideo “Pop” Yoshimura that won the 1964 Suzuka 18-Hour Endurance Race. Beside it was a Yoshimura-built 2024 FIM Endurance World Championship Suzuki GSX-R1000 that was shipped from Japan. A unique Yamaha R7 built by the Yoshimura team and painted by Troy Lee (2025 Legend of the Sport honoree) was also showcased. Fujio and Yusaku Yoshimura were in attendance.
The Italian Innovation class included a rare showing of 19 Bimota motorcycles, and the BMW GS class included a curated lineup of GS motorcycles throughout the years. Bringing some excitement to the GS showcase was the attendance of journalists from the press launch of the 2025 BMW R 1300 GS Adventure who had ridden to the event from Hollywood.
The 2025 Legend of the Sport was Troy Lee, who painted the R7 described above.
“Being named Legend of the Sport this year is a real honor, and getting to showcase the R7 as part of that was something special,” said Lee. “They told me to go wild, so I asked myself, how can I reinvent myself, what can I do differently? I love Laguna Seca, especially how riders flip from one side to the other through the Corkscrew. I wanted the bike to be one color when it leans one way and a different color when it flips the other. So we designed the suit and the helmet to match and just said, ‘I hope they go for this.”
During the Fireside Chat with Troy Lee, the artist was joined by AMA Hall of Famers Wayne Rainey and Steve Baker as he reflected on his time in and contribution to motorsports.

“The newly revamped Quail MotoFest was an incredible success,” said Gordon McCall, director of motorsports for The Peninsula Signature Events. “It’s about more than the bikes – it’s about the people, the stories, and the passion of the motorcycling community. The love for two wheels is as strong as ever, and we’re proud to have honored industry-leading brands, such as Bimota, Yoshimura, and BMW while creating an event that is such a highlight for the community.”
