Named after the legendary Viking King Harald Bluetooth who was noted for building networks between villages and unifying Scandinavia during the Middle Ages, Bluetooth Technology is a wireless method of “pairing” two different technologies using a short-range radio signal. That mystical gadgetry has found a new home with the Wireless Headset Interface Module from Harley-Davidson. Carrying a suggested MSRP of $299.95, this interface is mounted inside the fairing on 2014 and later Touring and Trike models and permits full access to the Infotainment features of the H-D Boom! Box Audio 6.5GT radio. This electronic wizardry ensures a safe and controlled hands-free riding experience as users move seamlessly through music, phone, CB, navigation and intercom features by using a separately-purchased H-D Bluetooth-enabled headset. Fitment of the module does require the separate purchase of a module wiring harness ($49.95) and a dealer software update with dealer installation being recommended.
