Stephen Elliot of Howell, Michigan, has been acquitted of $280,000 in embezzlement charges from Capitol Harley-Davidson in Lansing, Michigan. He was charged after an internal audit found some discrepancies in the dealership’s books. He faced 20 years and $1,000 in fines. The one-year-old case did not hold water, and there was no paper trail. I reported on this last year, and wanted to help clear up his name. Not guilty… Make-A-Wish of South Dakota was presented a check from J&L Harley-Davidson in Sioux Falls for $162,885 from the 22nd annual Hot Harley Nights event in July. This event has raised over $2.5 million over the years, and will grant over 70 wishes to families and children throughout the state at an average cost of $7,200 per wish… Evan E. McGaughey (27) of Portage, Indiana, got a call from friends to help with a woman who overdosed. He picked her up and draped her over his scoot and headed to the hospital. After receiving calls from concerned citizens about an unconscious woman on a motorcycle, the police pulled him over. They gave her three Narcan shots but she didn’t wake up. Paramedics noticed no right shoe, severely significant injuries to her toes, and second-degree engine burns to her hand from laying over the tank. Evan told the police it was faster than waiting for the ambulance. Dumazz was arrested for felony criminal recklessness resulting in serious bodily injury, and battery with serious bodily injury. The woman should be OK… Lima Harley-Davidson in Lima, Ohio, and Budweiser partnered for the third year in a row to hold their Bud Bash. The event brought a variety of country music performers including Aaron Lewis. Performers donated their time to help raise money for Oklahoma-based Folds of Honor. Over 3,000 people attended the event raising over $20,000 to help provide scholarships to families of wounded and fallen soldiers… The Devil’s Knights MC in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, donated $4,000 and Hatco Corporation matched the donation to support the Door County Veterans Service to assist in sending veterans and their guardians on an Old Glory Honor Flight. Based in Appleton, Wisconsin, it pays for veterans of all wars to take a one-day tour to the nation’s capital… Rubber City Harley-Davidson and its H.O.G. chapter in Akron, Ohio, held their annual Bikers for Boobs poker run on August 20. The ride raised over $31,500 this year and was dedicated to Sandy Hanawalt, the longtime chairperson who passed earlier this year. Over 1,120 riders and guests and 140 volunteers helped to raise the much-needed money to support Stewart’s Caring Place. Stewart’s Place, named after the late Dr. Stewart Surloff, provides free support services to those touched by cancer in the Akron area… If you travel to Chicago the Harley-Davidson store on North Michigan Avenue will be closing at the end of the year, and opening a smaller shop on Navy Pier. Fox Powersports based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, that owns dealerships in Glenview and Libertyville also hopes to open a new shop across from Wrigley Field in late 2018… The Loyal Riders MC North Plains Chapter in Ionia, Michigan, donated $4,000 to the Ionia Area Hospice from their annual poker run.
