After a visit to the Guggenheim Museum’s Art of the Motorcycle, Steve Culp and Liz Swaine were inspired to bring a similar event to the residents of Shreveport, Louisiana. Culp is a custom motorcycle builder who also rebuilds WWI bi-planes and performs aerobatic shows with his 1916 Sopwith Pup. After hearing of the couple’s desire to host a gallery full of two-wheeled art, the Shreveport Regional Arts Council volunteered their facility, artspace, as a location for the exhibit. Scouring a 100-mile radius of Shreveport, Culp and Swaine have amassed 47 motorcycles from private collectors and individuals that range from rare to the common. The show begins today at 5:30 p.m. and carries a $10 admission price. Artspace is located at 710 Texas Street in the Downtown West Edge Arts District.
