After a one-year absence from the model lineup, Harley-Davidson brings the Road Glide back to its Touring family for 2015 with all of the improvements and updates from Project Rushmore as well as an all-new, completely redesigned “sharknose” fairing that has been the bike’s signature component since it debuted in the 1988 model-year lineup. According to The Motor Company, the new frame-mounted fairing was shaped by countless hours of wind-tunnel testing and features triple Splitstream venting that significantly reduces head buffeting while still providing comfortable airflow around the rider.

Dual Daymaker Reflector LED headlamps and combination stop/turn/taillights also grace the 2015 Road Glide, and centered in the inner fairing is the color screen of a Boom! Box 4.3 infotainment system controlled by twin joysticks located on a new swept-back handlebar. Harley’s High Output Twin Cam 103 V-Twin powers the Road Glide and has two chrome mufflers. Touring features include One- Touch hard saddlebags, cruise control, easier-to-read gauges, adjustable air-ride rear suspension and new ergonomic hand controls with a more intuitive design and improved tactile feel.

The Company also announced that for 2015 there will also be a Road Glide Special model that will be available, which adds the premium Boom! Box 6.5GT infotainment system with touch screen and GPS navigation, Reflex Linked Brakes with ABS and hand-adjustable low-profile rear suspension.

Color options for the two bikes are Vivid Black, Amber Whiskey, Mysterious Red Sunglo (Road Glide only), Black Denim and Superior Blue (Road Glide Special only). MSRPs in Vivid Black are $20,899 for the Road Glide and $23,199 for the Road Glide Special, and in solid colors the bikes will go for $21,399 (Road Glide) and $23,699 (Road Glide Special).

The public will have an opportunity to see and test-ride the new 2015 Road Glide and Road Glide Special models at Harley-Davidson locations in Sturgis, South Dakota, August 2-9, 2014, and in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Aug. 2. They start arriving at authorized Harley-Davidson dealerships on August 26, 2014. Visit h-d.com/roadglide for more information.
