Thunder Press learned today of the tragic passing of young motorcycle racer Ross Tomas, son of Mike and Carolyn Tomas of Kiwi Indian Motorcycles. The family has released the following statement:
Tuesday, July 22, 2014—Ross “Kiwi” Tomas, 20-year-old son of “Kiwi MIke” and Carolyn Tomas of Kiwi Indian Motorcycles Inc., was killed in a motorcycle accident close to their home in Riverside, California.
A “Motorcycle Funeral” and public memorial will be held Thursday, July 31 at 9:00 a.m. at Iglesia Palabra, 4183 Fairgrounds Street in Riverside. In honor of Ross, feel free to dress casual (wear a T-shirt and jeans) and if you have a motorcycle. PLEASE ride it out. We will have a procession from the church through Fairmont Park and over to Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent in Ross’ name to the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame, P.O. Box 602, Sturgis, S.D. 57785.
Mike Tomas is planning a ’Round the World Motorcycle Tour on his vintage Indian with his “Wingman” Greg Johnson. They are planning to kick off this tour at Sturgis with sponsors and a bike unveiling on Saturday, August 3. This event is in the free-access area in the Crossroads section of the Buffalo Chip Campground. Mike and Carolyn will still be attending this event as it will be a time of healing and time to be with their extended motorcycle family in Sturgis.
