She leads 67 employees in transferring data flow from customers to suppliers on the shop floor… Mark your calendars for the inaugural Detroit Motorcycle City event July 6–9. The Motor City Casino will be the event host hotel. The event kicks off on July 6 with a VIP dinner, and a Detroit River cruise. Friday and Saturday will feature an Expo, live music (hopefully Bob Seger), bike show and art exhibit. Sunday will be the motorcycle parade at 10 a.m. through the city and ending at Belle Isle. For more info go to www.detroitmotorcyclecity.com… On April 1 at Black Hills Harley-Davidson in Rapid City, SoDak, 412 participants took the annual plunge for Special Olympics South Dakota in the Freezing for a Reason polar plunge. With a minimum $100 donation each, and others as business or a team endeavor, the event raised $94,700 for the two area Special Olympics teams Storm and Flame. The money raised will help with expense in travel, and competition fees… On April 19 around 9:15 a.m. in the city of Jackson, Michigan, commuters were greeted on their morning commute to a 46-year-old woman riding buck naked on the back of a motorcycle. Officers located the blue Harley speeding down the road with the woman hanging on the back. When they pulled her over she tried to put a jacket on but it only covered her top. They asked the driver why the woman was naked, and he said he didn’t know, he was just giving her a ride home. The cop then asked her why, and she said she was a thrill seeker. She got a ticket for indecent exposure. The driver was not cited… A.D. Farrow in Franklinton, Ohio, is celebrating 105 years in business in 2017. Owner Bob Althoff announced the dealership will more than double its size and will be finished by February 2018. Renovations will still be under way in September during the American International Motorcycle Expo in Columbus. When completed the dealership will have completely new show rooms and a new service center… Twenty five years ago 13 motorcycles attended a bike blessing in Spitler Woods, Illinois. Fast forward to 2017 and 1,300 motorcycles braved a driving rainstorm to attend the annual event that is now hosted by Coziahr Harley-Davidson in Forsyth, Illinois. Tim and Debbie Coziahr remembered the first blessing and are overjoyed with what it has evolved into. Each individual rider and scooter was prayed over by members of the Christian Motorcycle Association during the ceremony, while members of the Decatur H.O.G. chapter #0957 handled the traffic. Eight-year-old Gracie Lebeau attended the event with her father aboard her 50cc Honda dirt bike saying, the first time she rode she ran up a tree, and this year she wanted to get blessed so she is safe when she rides… The Evanston, Illinois, police department whose police department’s motorcycle unit was established in 1908, has purchased seven brand new Harleys from City Limits Harley-Davidson in Palatine. The council approved the purchase price of $108,276 over the cost of leasing. The motorcycles are used in traffic enforcement, investigations, parades, and special events. Evanston Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl hinted that they haven’t offered her any rides yet… That’s it for this month; it’s all about you the Midwest biker. Ride fast, but ride safe.
