Congratulations to William G. Davidson, chief styling officer emeritus and brand ambassador, who many believe changed the direction and identity of Harley-Davidson since the take-back in 1984, on being honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Willie G. will receive the award at the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame Induction ceremony on August 9, during the 77th Sturgis Rally… Mark Hollandsworth of Trenton, Michigan, and Randy Fischer of Urbana, Ohio, were in Key West on spring break when a drunken Smith Meyers (who just happened to be the incoming University of Florida student body president) went on a wild tear, and pushed their motorcycles over while just being a total ass. He caused over $3,000 in damage to each motorcycle. Both men are members of the Axemen MC and just want the damages paid for. Fischer said the Axeman would not retaliate on Meyers, but other clubs in Florida might. Smith Meyers has been removed from his UF position, and put on probation… Victor Murdock and Adrienne Brown stopped at the local Dave & Busters in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and were promptly told them they had to turn their club colors inside out or leave. No gang-related apparel is allowed. The couple are members of the American Legion Riders Post 179 in Grandville, Michigan. Dave & Buster’s Vice President Ed Forler flew in from Dallas, Texas, to meet with the Legion Riders, and Post Commander Mike Hawes. Company officials apologized, vowing to work with the American Legion to review their dress code policy and educate employees about veterans’ groups… Harley-Davidson of Kokomo, Indiana, received the Platinum Bar & Shield award from Harley-Davidson as being the number two dealership in the nation. General Manager Ryan Clevenger said his crew excels in high-quality work in every aspect of the business and it showed this year. They have won six Bar & Shield awards in a row, but this is their first Platinum… New Lenox, Illinois, police were called to an accident where a motorcycle collided with a garage. Shortly after arriving, police noticed a motorcycle going down the road with its kickstand down, a saddlebag missing, and the helmetless rider bleeding from his face. After treatment at the local hospital, Joseph A. Allan of Frankfort, Illinois, was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident, DUI, possession of a controlled substance, and violation of the Illinois CCW laws for having a handgun in the saddlebag lost at the scene of the accident… In Geneva, Ohio, the Dirty Bones MC busted through the doors of the Geneva Food Pantry with 5,540 pounds of food that was collected by its members and 14 other groups during their annual food drive and winter party at the Creekside Tavern and Grill. This was their fourth year of the event, and FYI, their first year was just under 1,000 pounds of donated food. Valerie Leitch, director of the food pantry, just loves seeing them coming, because when they leave the pantry is fully stocked to capacity… Believe it or not—in Dayton, Ohio, a motorcycle rider walked away from a 90-mph crash with an SUV that witnesses say launched him over 20 feet through the air. The crash debris field was so large police were searching nearby roof tops for another victim. The unnamed victim got up, walked to a nearby car and was driven to the hospital with minor injuries. No, he was not wearing a helmet. No drugs or alcohol were involved, but he will be cited for failure to control his motorcycle, speeding, and reckless operation… That’s it for this month; it’s all about you, the Midwest biker.
