There’s a brand-new reality show hitting the small screen, and it’s one with a unique twist.

Paul Patranella and Bill Allen star in the new TV show "Hairy Bikers"

History Channel’s Hairy Bikers will follow Paul Patranella and Bill Allen, two self-described hippie redneck outdoorsmen from Texas, on their adventures that combine motorcycling, cooking and eating. Paul, riding his 2001 H-D Electra-Glide Classic, and Bill on his 2007 H-D Night Train travel back roads around the country discovering the local culture and cuisine.

Paul is a four-star classically trained French chef (he was the personal chef for President George Bush and his wife Barbara!) who now owns the Bait Barn Fishery—yep, a fishing and bait store—in Bryan, Texas, and Bill, who worked at the old Russ Welch Harley-Davidson, now owns his own shop—Bill Allen Motorcycle Company, also in Bryant.

Bill tells Thunder Press, “It’s not a cooking show, although there is cooking in it. It’s all about local culture. The food we prepare can be described as ‘simple elegance’—something the regular guy can do.” He continues, “We were two guys who raised holy freakin’ hell together back in the day. Now I have an opportunity to ride around the country with my best friend, but on a whole new level. We’re just a couple of regular, fun-lovin’ guys that have an opportunity to discover America one bite at a time.”

Hairy Bikers started out in the U.K. eight years ago, and features British chef/bikers Dave Myers and Si King. The U.S. version is produced for History Channel by BBD Worldwide Productions. The new show premiers October 14 at 10:00 p.m. EST, and you can also get a sneak peek on October 10 at 11:00 p.m. EST.
