MILWAUKEE, WIS., AUG. 25—Fresh off the heels of the Road Glide’s official return during the 74th annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, The Motor Company is bringing some hot-rod swagger to the trike market with the unveiling of the all-new 2015 Freewheeler at the 2015 model year press launch.

The Freewheeler is an all-new trike model that fuses pure custom style and easy-handling performance. From its mini ape-hanger handlebar to its bobtail fenders, the Freewheeler is a page ripped straight from the bad-attitude handbook, offered in a compact and nimble package that delivers a riding experience like nothing else on the road. Riding on three wheels has never been cooler.

“With its low profile and stripped-down details inspired by classic hot rods, the Freewheeler looks sweeter than a state fair funnel cake,” said Tony Pink, Freewheeler styling lead. “From the new nacelle to the fastback seat and flat-top trunk, this trike is styled to look tight and compact. Even the new passenger hand rails are designed to flow with the bodywork. The Freewheeler will debut with some real street cred.”

The Freewheeler front end is all new and features a seven-piece chrome nacelle that’s tucked tight to the forks and holds a Dual Halogen headlamp in a polished chrome bucket. A trim front fender tops a 19-inch Enforcer cast-aluminum wheel with machined highlights. The all-new rear body shape gives the Freewheeler a low, lean profile and incorporates a weatherproof trunk designed to hold two full-face helmets. The top-mounted trunk door opens right-to-left for easy loading. Dual chrome mufflers with slash-down tips are inset in the bottom of the trunk. Bobtail fenders terminate in an arrogant flip to expose the rear tires and incorporate bright L.E.D. stop/tail/turn lamps.

The Freewheeler puts more riders in a comfortable, confident position. That 12-inch mini-ape handlebar offers the tallest rise available on any Harley-Davidson motorcycle to place the hand controls closer to the rider and reduce steering reach and effort. The seat is shaped to move the rider forward for a better reach to the foot and hand controls, with a passenger position designed for comfort while blending with the bodywork. Soft-touch passenger grab rails are easy to grip and mount directly to the body.

The influence of customer feedback is evident throughout the Freewheeler. The speedometer features a black face with easy-to-read graphics. The chrome console features a One-Touch door over the fuel fill. Ergonomic hand controls incorporate an intuitive design and improved tactile feel, with a trigger switch to cycle the information screen display on the speedometer.

An air-cooled High Output Twin Cam 103 V-Twin engine cranks out 105 ft/lbs of peak torque and delivers abundant power for quick getaways and robust highway passing performance. The Freewheeler is equipped with electronic cruise control, a foot-activated parking brake, electric reverse gear and a hydraulic Assist and Slip clutch with reduced lever effort. The linked brake system allows the rider to apply both the front and rear brakes through the rear brake pedal. The full front brake system is applied only through the front brake lever and remains independent. Built on a chassis engineered exclusively as a three-wheeled vehicle, the Freewheeler offers premium Harley-Davidson quality and performance, backed by a limited two-year factory warranty and the network of authorized Harley-Davidson dealers.

The Freewheeler can be personalized with a selection of exclusive items from Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Parts & Accessories, including a detachable windshield and backrest, multiple seat options, and an Air Wing luggage rack.

The new 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycles and accessories start rolling into Harley-Davidson dealerships Aug. 26, 2014. Visit H-D.com to see all of the 2015 Harley-Davidson models and to find a local authorized Harley-Davidson dealer.
