Nation’s premier amateur hillclimb championship takes place July 26-28, 2019
Pickerington, Ohio, Sept. 12—The American Motorcyclist Association announces Middle Tennessee Dragway as the host of the 2019 AMA Hillclimb Grand Championship, which is scheduled for July 26-28, 2019.
It will be the Buffalo Valley, Tenn., facility’s first time hosting the AMA championship, which pits the best amateur hillclimb racers in the United States against each other in a battle of skill and determination.
“We are happy that Middle Tennessee Dragway has agreed to host the 2019 AMA Hillclimb Grand Championship,” AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant said. “We are looking forward to another year of intense competition. The facility’s location in central Tennessee will allow racers from across the country to more easily make it to the event. It is a newer track and should provide a challenge to all of the event’s competitors.”
In addition to competing for AMA No. 1 plates, racers will vie for awards recognizing the AMA Hillclimb Racer of the Year, AMA Vet/Senior Hillclimb Racer of the Year and AMA Youth Hillclimb Racer of the Year.
The King of the Hill award will go to the fastest competitor in a run-off. Riders with the 10 fastest times during the weekend will compete for the honor in a one-run class at the end of the program Sunday.
As with most AMA amateur national championships, and in recognition of the range of participants in amateur competition, the event includes multiple classes to provide ample opportunities for amateur racers to compete. Classes are available based on rider age, engine displacement and motorcycle configuration.
Registration for the event opens in January.
