The 81st Sturgis Rally kicks off at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip on Friday, August 6th, the 40th-anniversary for the infamous Chip. Events begin at 5 pm with racers from Ultra4 Off-Road Racing and Xtreem Flat Track taking part in a motorcycle parade along Buffalo Chip Main St.
Friday’s opening acts include live music from the South Dakota YouTube phenomenon, Blacklite District, and headlining, Kansas City rockers, Puddle Of Mudd will be performing on the Wolfman Jack Stage. For those that can’t attend, the entire Kickoff Party will be live-streamed on YouTube on the Buffalo Chip Live channel.
“There’s no such thing as being fashionably late when it comes to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally,” said Rod Woodruff, President of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “You come early, and you party all the way through. That’s how you do the rally, and that’s how you do the Chip.”
Friday is just the first of nine days of live music and events, including legendary rides, powerful freedom celebrations, jaw-dropping bike shows, white-knuckle racing events, and much more. All events are held in an open environment for the safest experience possible. Entertainment is free with camping.
The Buffalo Chip’s Wolfman Jack Main Stage will be hosting bikes and bands alike, from August the 6th through the 14th.
