During the 2016 ROT Rally in Austin, G.J. Reyna shared that he has big news regarding his rally, the Corpus Christi BikeFest on October 7–9. On a mission to steer the rally back to basics, they will be offering the crazy affordable rate of just $5 per day to attend. Even better, active and veteran military will be admitted for free (as will kids under 5). This fee is all-inclusive for music, vendors, bike games, and the chance to win a 2016 H-D FXDLS Low Rider S. A weekend pass will be $30 but includes a $20 rally T-shirt. Get all the details at www.CCBikeFest.com… The month of July got off to a harsh beginning for many Dallas area riders after the brutal murder of five Dallas and DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) police officers who were working a Black Lives Matter protest march in downtown on the evening of Thursday, July 7. Many bikers spent the following day and weekend rounding up flats of water and donated food from restaurants to take to the two trauma center hospitals handling the numerous injured officers and civilians. The following week saw hundreds of riders (particularly from the Patriot Guard Riders of North Texas) who rode a staggering five escort missions in just four days for the fallen in the searing July heat. Major kudos go out to the PGR riders, independents, Rick Fairless and his team at Strokers Dallas, and so many other riders for donating numerous cases of water and organizing impromptu rides to raise money for the locally-based Assist the Officer Foundation… Welder and fabricator Mike Kordash of Dallas has been hard at work on a super-secret project for Mike Carson of Carson Classic Motors in Livingston for this month’s Cannonball Run; CCM is sponsoring the Texas Team. Kordash is noted for his gorgeous line of handlebars and sissy bars as well as being a premier motorcycle frame restorer under the shingle of Mike’s Harley Framework. We will share more details of the build as the classic ride is unveiled… Speaking of CCM, Mike Carson shared an insider’s look at the Texas Team by saying, “Brit Steve Norton will be on a very rare 1904 British REX, probably one of 20 left in the world—the oldest entry in 2016 Cannonball and favorite to win, if he and machine can endure the brutality. (The engine was just rebuilt by Rolls Royce engineers.) Brit Fass Mikey Wild will be aboard a souped-up 1910 Triumph. Mike is world renowned and a winner of the prestigious 2013 VMCC Dreadnought Trophy. American Steve Alexander is on a 1913 Douglas, another very rare machine. Buck Carson (Mike’s son) will ride a 1916 Concours restoration BSA with motor build by Revival Cycles in Austin. The Good Looking Texan (GLT is Mike Carson’s road acronym) is on the Secret Project custom, one of five known to exist. Carson Classic Motors will appear in full force, with all intents to win The Race of the Century.” Texas appears ready to dominate the 2016 Cannonball Run!… Keep me in the loop concerning all your events because you never know when you might get mentioned in an upcoming column.
