Carlsbad, Calif., Sep. 26—The final stage of the Motorcycle Cannonball was a scant 101 miles but it included a 4,000-foot climb over the San Jacinto mountains, a nasty little dust storm—complete with tumbleweeds—and a bit of SoCal traffic that kept riders on their toes. Breakdowns and anemic engines had sweep drivers following along to encourage the determined machines on to the Grand Finish in Carlsbad, California where local residents choked the streets to cheer riders in as history was made on Sunday afternoon.

Frank Westfall on his 1912 Henderson claimed the number one spot in Stage 15.

  1. How cool, how exciting, the feeling of riding across the USA on 100 yr old + motorcycles which most rebuilt and repaired themselves? I have met some of these wonderful people who ride these Vintage machines and they are the best !! Living the motorcycle dream ! ???
