Durango, CO – Four Corners Motorcycle Rally (FCMR) is excited to announce new leadership and the return of beloved venues for the 29th annual event taking place September 2nd – 4th, 2022 over Labor Day Weekend. The event is held each year in and around Durango and Ignacio, Colorado. FCMR is expected to draw over 20,000 attendees and raise thousands of dollars for local non-profit organizations.
The Rally was started in 1992 by Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (the first Native American elected to the U.S. Senate) and Mike Lavato. The event was based at the Sky Ute Fairgrounds on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation outside of Ignacio, Colorado. At its peak, FCMR attracted over 40,000 attendees to the Four Corners area, which is home to the Million Dollar Highway and some spectacular scenery for motorcycle enthusiasts traveling to the area.
For 2022, The Rally has a new leadership team that is dedicated to honoring the history of The Rally and excited to bring new ideas and events to the Four Corners. Two well-respected Durango area business owners; Trevor Bird, owner of Durango Harley-Davidson, and Chip Lile, owner of several taverns in Durango, and President of the Snowdown Festival, have joined forces as the new co-owners of the Four Corners Motorcycle Rally. Together, they have an extensive network both locally and throughout the motorcycle community to help grow this event for decades to come. Bird and Lile have brought in an experienced team of professionals with combined expertise in events, motorsports, and the motorcycle industry. Every team member has a strong appreciation for Durango and the surrounding areas.
The new leadership team is working with the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and has secured the Sky Ute Fairgrounds for RV and Tent Camping for 2022. This partnership will provide much needed additional camping spaces for attendees of the event. The Sky Ute fairgrounds area has been used in the past for rallies, but not in recent years. As Labor Day is a popular time of year for many groups, this fairground space for camping will prove critical for the growth of the rally for years to come.
Some of the new events being planned for 2022 include:
- The Brawl – Motorcycle Stunt Competition
- A Vintage & Antique bike show
- Vintage Motocross Racing
- Factory Demo Rides from major Motorcycle manufacturers including Harley-Davidson & Royal Enfield
- Ball of Steel
Look for additional announcements about each of these events in the coming weeks. To stay up to date on all the latest news about FCMR, be sure to follow on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or via www.fourcornersmotorcyclerally.com.
