Not even cancer can hold back Ron Brefka from Sturgis with friends

Ron Brefka (right) headed to Sturgis just three weeks after undergoing liver cancer surgery. “I love goin’ to Sturgis to ride my old Shovelhead in the Black Hills,” Ron said. “Sturgis is my second favorite place in the World. Some of the best ridin’ roads in the country are here. Roads like Vanocker Canyon and Nemo were great and easy to get to. But really rad roads like Spearfish Canyon, Iron Mountain Road and Needles Highway are awesome, too, and close by.”
“Some of the best friends in the world are at Sturgis, too,” Ron told us. “Friends like Dan & Leah, who let us stay at their Sturgis home up on the ‘Ridge.’ Good friends like Vicki & Tony who invited us to witness Vicki’s Induction into the Sturgis Hall of Fame. And also, riding-brother Ace, who came out from Milwaukee to introduce his new chopper (pictured here at Bear Butte) to Sturgis and hit some of the great roads with us.”
Thunder Press will be publishing stories and photos submitted by readers throughout the month of September to celebrate the 80th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
