Road America was bustling with MotoAmerica races last weekend, including two Mission King Of The Baggers races. The first race saw Harley-Davidson factory rider and current points leader Kyle Wyman take the win, and the second race saw an exciting victory for Indian-mounted Bobby Fong.
Aboard a Harley-Davidson Road Glide, Kyle Wyman battled Indian rider Tyler O’Hara for his fourth consecutive win on Saturday. The two fought close for most of the race, but Wyman pulled ahead in the last lap when O’Hara ran wide in a turn. Wyman was able to hold onto that lead, finishing 0.567 second ahead of O’Hara.

“This was another strong weekend for the Factory Harley team,” said Wyman. “It was great to get the win yesterday in front of all the Harley fans here so close to headquarters in Milwaukee, and especially fun to have Willie G. Davidson here to see it.”
A battle between Kyle Wyman and Tyler O’Hara is nothing new, but Sunday’s race featured a more unexpected series of events. Right before the race, Bobby Fong’s airbag deployed in his leathers as he was warming up on the grid, but it appeared to be the shot of adrenaline Fong needed, as he pulled away from the rest of the pack early on and held that lead, leaving the rest to battle for second far behind him. In that battle were Kyle Wyman, Jeremy McWilliams, James Rispoli, and Hayden Gillim. McWilliams crashed out on the last lap, allowing Rispoli to snag second with Wyman following by 0.01 second in third. Fong finished with an amazing 5.7-second lead.
“It’s been a rollercoaster of a year,” said Fong, “but we’ve shown some glimpses of hope here and there and had some bad luck, but that’s part of racing. I’ve dealt with worse in the past. I’m just thankful to be up here today.”
With six out of 14 races in the 2023 season down, Kyle Wyman sits at the top of the standings with 116 points, followed by Rispoli with 103 points and Gillim with 89 points. The King Of The Baggers series returns July 7-9 in the MotoAmerica Superbikes at Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in California.
