Wahoo! Another year almost finished—it is so amazing to find it fall already, with holidays right around the corner. And with holidays come my favorite rides of the year; also some of my favorite parties with friends and family. So lets get this holiday season kicked off in style with lots of November birthdays and a few runs, starting with my November 11 favorite, Honda Ray and friends’ Totally Kids Ride on November 10. This is the sweet, feel-good run of the year. No pins, no T-shirts, no lunch. Technically, no ride! Just come to the Totally Kids Center and bring batteries, children’s DVDs or the multitude of other items on the list. Don’t bother with the dolls or stuffed animals. This is for developmentally disabled kids. For the directions and their wish list, log on to: www.totallykids.com and follow the links to the Totally Kids Ride instructions!… It was great hearing from Howard Levine from Bartels’ Harley-Davidson in Marina Del Rey. We chatted about his pet cause and ride, the 5th annual Miriam’s House Fundraiser on November 10. This is a poker ride up the coast and on your return you’ll be treated to food presented by the Culinary Arts School, live music by two different bands and lots of raffle prizes. SOA’s Rusty Coones will be the day’s Grand Marshal. Miriam’s House is a clean-and-sober facility for unwed mothers, and this event has raised over $100,000 during the past five years. Sign-in starts at 9:30 a.m. and the event ends around 3:00 p.m. Sounds fun, doesn’t it?… And not to get too far into December, Steve Broughton gave me a call the other day to remind me that ABATE 1 and Glendale H-D’s 26th annual Skid Row Toy Run is on December 8; destination is, as always, the Fred Jordan Mission. This is such a sweet ride because you get to see the kids that the toys go to. It’s just the ticket to get you in the Christmas mood. Meet up at Glendale Harley-Davidson at 9:00 a.m. Get your morning started with a pancake breakfast and then ride with your new, unwrapped toy directly to the kids!… The Lawmen Poker Run is Saturday, November 9. It starts at Palm Springs Harley-Davidson on Indian, and ends at the Indio Elks Lodge. Contact Dennis or Tom for more info: djshog1@msn.com, tomdsrt@aol.com… Nice seeing Greg Hall one last time just before his move to Texas; good luck, honey!… Nice to get an e-mail from Bonnie Kranze, here’s some info on the Barn’s 3rd annual Car & Bike Show at Newberry Springs on November 2, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The address for this ride is 44560 National Trails Highway in Newberry Springs, and the show is being held in conjunction with lots of other festivities in town. You can give Bonnie a call at the Barn at 760.257.4110… The 13th annual Rocky Point Rally in Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico, is November 7–10. I’ve heard from several that it’s lots of fun; check out the info at www.cometorockypoint.com… Nice hearing from Terry Wallgren from the backwoods of Montana!… Tom and Lynette Snider, congrats on the new grandbaby! Happy 40th work anniversary to Sharron Berry; that’s a long time to work at the same place, girl! Congratulations! And speaking of anniversaries, happy anniversary to Gabe and Anita Aguirre! Also, happy anniversary to Mike and Marcia Reich… Got lots of birthday wishes to send out, starting with Jim Shuler and Marina Sanchez. Have a fun day! Corey Simmons (Halle’s nephew in Australia), have a fun day Down Under! Donna Cox, Mark Wasserman and Wynn Storton also share November birthdays, hope they’re each special. Kathy Page and Steve Sanchez, have a super day! And happy birthday to Dave Woods (who, along with his wife Allison, owns Coachella Valley Motorcycle Training). Happy birthday to Halle’s sister, Nina! November also marks the creation of U.S. Marine Corps back in 1775, so happy birthday to all you Marines, especially my own nephew, Staff Sergeant Aaron Weigand! Birthday wishes also go out to Ed Fortelny on November 2, Dave St. Peter on November 7, Steve Cockrell on November 15, Annette Seay on the 22nd, Jim Smyth on November 29 and Cindy Gano on the 30th. A belated happy birthday to our friend, Gail Chambers, sorry I missed yours last month!… And in memory of George and Halle’s dad, happy birthday on November 28… Also, birthday congrats go out to desert folks Charles Frey and Nina Carmer-Kessler. Hope your November birthdays are filled with fun! Happy November 3 birthday to ABATE 1’s Steve Broughton, too!… That’s it for me this month. Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving! It falls on the 28th, as does the first night of Hanukkah, so happy Hanukkah to all of you also. Veterans Day is on the 11th of November; thank one if you get a chance! See you all next month and send me your stuff! Ride safe everyone and enjoy your ride!
