The H.O.G. Chapters of Central Arkansas #2539 in Little Rock, Toad Suck Chapter #2543 in Conway, and Hot Springs Chapter #2541 all worked under one leader, Richard “Captain” Dailey, sales manager at Landers Harley-Davidson in Little Rock, to gather nearly 200 bicycles for local children’s Christmas presents. They partnered with the Vicky-Colby Foundation and the Reverend Benny Johnson of Stop the Violence to put presents under the tree for underprivileged children in the area. This was their first time and they hope can make it a yearly event… Stephanie Myres was fired during the June Awesome Biker Nights Rally for sullying the reputation of Sioux City’s Marina Inn (the official host hotel) for allegedly “consorting with a group of biker-type lingerie models called the Buffalo Chip Girls.” She dined at the hotel with Laramie Noyce, Christine Ruby, Brandy Bodkin and Ashley Grable, their chaperone and Awesome Biker Nights reps in a hotel room, and used the company coach to take the Buffalo Chip Girls to Dr. John’s Lingerie Boutique to shop for new outfits. Ms. Myers applied for unemployment benefits and was denied. After a two-hour hearing the administrative law judge sided with her in judgment for benefits… Indiana State Police received a call about a motorcycle crash that may have occurred outside of Michigan City in Westville. Officers responded to the scene at 1:19 a.m., but could not find the crash. As they were standing there, they heard a motorcycle blasting down the road and clocked a 2002 Street Glide well over the 55 mph limit. They attempted to stop it, but the chase was on. The pursuit finally ended when the driver lost control and hit a curb. William Knies, 39, of Westville was transported to South Bend Memorial with life-threatening injuries and has been charged with DUI (0.28 percent) and he tested positive for THC. I have no info on Willy, but damn, boy, ya should have stopped… The Raskulls Motorcycle Club in Dayton, Ohio, has been helping soldiers in need for years, and this year after watching news reports of people stealing Christmas presents they changed their mission to children. Knowing what it takes to raise children and be a family, they shopped and dropped off clothing and toys to the Saint Vincent DePaul’s Women and Family shelter in Dayton. Their generosity helped 31 underprivileged children in the area. Way to go, brothers and sisters! That is the spirit. Bless you all… John Tornow of Port Clinton, Ohio, decided it was time to buy a new scoot and visited Mad River Harley-Davidson in Sandusky to shop around. That was two years ago at age 76, and he bought a Tri Glide. On the way home he stopped and gave 96-year-old Amy Hyde a ride. Now, two years later, John is still a member of the Sandusky H.O.G. Chapter and National H.O.G. He and his two sons have gone on a six-distillery bourbon tour in Kentucky, and also rode the Tail of the Dragon this past summer. John has been married to wife Mary for 59 years. When John is not riding, he is running the card games at the Port Clinton Senior Center… Remember those young, crazy days when you had the need for speed no matter when or where you were? Yeah, me too! Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow reported that one of his officers in St. Cloud clocked a motorcycle at 115 mph and engaged the suspect in a high-speed chase that lasted under three minutes. Why? The temperature at the time was 32 degrees and the wind chill was about 8 degrees. I figure his face was frozen, as well as his eyelids. I can picture it now: icicles out his nose and a felony ticket, to boot. Oh, those were the days!… Tony Scott, a proud Vietnam veteran and American Legion Post #1977 member in New Lenox, Illinois, persuaded his bosses at Prairie Material (performance concrete and materials) in Bridgeview to decorate one of their mixer trucks to pay homage to POW/MIA’s. He then organized the annual “Run for Vets” held the Sunday after Labor Day. This year’s event, the fourth annual, was another success. Escorted by the local police and led by the POW/MIA truck, 265 riders left the company headquarters and embarked on a 50-mile ride that ended at the Manteno (Illinois) Veterans’ Home for a cookout and fun with the vets. They also donated $5,000 and a truckload of supplies to the home. So far the event has not only raised over $18,000 for the home, but they have also provided a day of fun, food and music for our men and women warriors that reside at the Manteno Veterans’ Home… Congratulations to Marc Jones, 20, of Erie, Ohio, on winning the 2013 Harley Street Bob in the “Iron Man 3: Man and Machine” contest sponsored by Marvel Comics. He created a comic book character that was selected in the top five, and then was selected as the grand prize winner for his character. He picked up his new ride from the gang at Harley-Davidson of Erie… That’s it for this month, brothers and sisters. It all about you, the Midwest biker. Ride fast, but ride safe.
