In Sioux City, Iowa, Awesome Biker Nights will be returning to the Historic Fourth Street location after last year’s relocation to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The 18th annual ABN is scheduled on June 15–17. After 16 years in the Historic Fourth Street location the event moved to the Casino last year after some issues and other outside pressures. Sara Williams-Gill said the move back to the district is to put an emphasis on the event’s mission of helping the community… James Sivill (21) of Lincoln, Nebraska, took a nice January ride. Noticing some ladies outside of Applebee’s, he decides it’s show time. He revs his engine, takes off like a shot, loses control, and up the curb he goes, crashing into the restaurant. He flew off, and the scoot slid down the sidewalk. At the hospital he said he doesn’t remember a thing or why he wasn’t wearing a helmet… The Infernos MC of Le Mars, Iowa, presented a check for $4,000 to the board of Special Troopers Adaptive Riding Schools (STARS). STARS provides people with disabilities animal-oriented therapeutic rehab and recreation. They have been doing this for the last three years, and will help purchase hay for the therapy horses… Congratulations to Margaret Gulley of Peotone, Illinois, on winning the 2016 Indian Chief Vintage from the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa. Margaret said she has wanted an Indian since they started making them again. Her current ride is a Suzuki Boulevard and she can’t wait to ride that Injun… For the last 20 years the Thunderbird MC has presented the Minnesota Veterans Home in Silver Bay with a donation of $3,000 for the home’s general activities fund. Jack Rose, club and charter member, said that it is important for the club to take care of the people that have taken care of keeping our country free… I reported last month that Windy City Motorcycle Co. of Chicago purchased Milwaukee H-D. They have now purchased Woodstock H-D in Woodstock, Illinois, McHenry H-D in McHenry, Illinois, and Lake Geneva H-D in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. These acquisitions bring the total number of dealerships under the Windy City Motorcycle Co. to 13 and counting. CEO Ozzie Giglio and wife Jill are devoted Harley riders, and believe their love and respect for the biker community has made this growth possible… Congratulations to Jeff Dold of Garden City, Michigan, who has crossed off riding in Alaska on his bucket list. It took him 17 years, but Jeff finally finished riding in all 50 states. He started in 1999 with his wife Kim, and would take the full month of July on his trips. As time went on not all the trips were on his own scoot, and Kim was not always his passenger. He had to rent one in Hawaii and Alaska, and the trips have been wonderful just the same. He now plans on riding on each continent, now that he has finished North America. He is planning on touring Europe next summer… John Bicknell IV of Springfield, Missouri, is taking a long and deserved 15-year vacation courtesy of the Corrections Department. Back in February 2015, on his motorcycle he chased a high school senior in a Honda Civic for 15 miles over a road rage incident, and when he caught up with him he shot the kid who survived and was at the sentencing. He was sentenced in January, and his lawyer said he is suffering from mental health and substance abuse issues. I think they found a cure for him… That’s it for this month; it’s all about you, the Midwest biker. Ride fast, but ride safe.
