The grand opening for Adam Smith’s Texas Harley-Davidson took place on April 29–May 1 and it is now the flagship dealership for the five shops that Smith owns, which include Texoma H-D in Sherman, H-D of Waco, Roughneck H-D in Longview and Lumberjack H-D in Nacogdoches. To say the new dealership is “large” would be an understatement—the holding area alone for the new bikes waiting to hit the showroom floor is larger than 90 percent of H-D dealerships in the U.S.! This crew has literally thought of everything from recruiting top-notch certified talent for their service department to having USB plug-ins to charge up electrical gadgets. And, if that’s not enough, they are utilizing aromatherapy in the dealership to ensure it always has that smell of burned gasoline, motor oil and leather. It’s a massive facility just off of 183 in the Mid-Cities between Dallas and Fort Worth and well worth a visit… San Jacinto H-D in Pasadena held their Bikers Against Breast Cancer ride on May 7 with an impressive 436 motorcycles participating! Kudos go out to all the riders that saddled up for this worthwhile cause to raise money for breast cancer research… Also on May 7, it was International Female Ride Day and social media was in full-blown, meltdown mode as women riders from around the globe participated in the fun! They shared their updates and photos by using the hashtag #JustRide. This annual event will take place again on May 6, 2017… The annual Texas State H.O.G. Rally was held May 12–14 up near the Red River in Denison and attracted about 2,000 riders for the fun-filled three-day event. With everything from riding skills on a practice course to human foosball to guided rides, there was literally something for every type of rider. Each evening ended with live music. The Denison area won the bid to host the annual event and rally organizers anticipated a boost to the local economy of $800,000 for the weekend. Keep up with details for 2017 as they develop at www.TxStateHogRally.com… On May 14, the crew at Mancuso H-D Crossroads in Houston celebrated their birthday in style with a Battle of the Bands competition. The weather wasn’t exactly complimentary so they had a makeup date for the last two bands that were rained out. Congratulations to the Mancuso team for 33 years of two-wheeled service to NW Houston… Gene Slater was the long-time general manager of Strokers Dallas but he’s now working with Klock Werks and is dividing his time between Dallas and South Dakota when he’s not on the road hitting all the major rallies like Daytona and Laconia.
