Lightweight powerhouse
It’s basically acknowledged that for every 10 pounds of weight shed from a motorcycle, you gain one horsepower. And one of the easiest ways to lose some excess weight is with one of Shorai’s new Lithium Powersports Batteries. By using lithium iron phosphate storage cells and a carbon fiber composite case, the typical Shorai Lithium Battery weighs less than two pounds; about eight pounds lighter than a stock lead acid battery. This lightweight wonder is also maintenance free, requiring no fluid refills, venting or trickle charging when stored for extended periods. It offers more cranking amps, a longer working life, and comes with a price tag comparable to a conventional battery. It is also environmentally friendly; just fully discharge and dispose. Check out the website for fitment and pricing.

Loud and proud

Slim seating
The current popularity of baggers results in their being pressed into service for a variety of uses other than long-distance touring machines—everything from land speed records to exotic customs. To enhance the sporty stance many bagger owners desire, Mustang Seats introduces the Tripper Fastback. Cropped to a low contour, this stylish bucket tapers in the rear, presenting a narrow profile without sacrificing passenger comfort. Built on a one-piece marine-grade fiberglass base, the Tripper Fastback uses a proprietary recipe of open and closed, progressive density foam, which is then topped off with high-grade vinyl. Designed to fit 1997 and newer Road Kings, FLHT, FLTR and FLHX models, the price is just as slim, coming in at only $339.

An open and shut case
In an effort to get owners of Harley Tour Paks off the leash, eGlideGoodies introduces their new TB-3 Ultra Brace. This nifty silver zinc-plated gadget replaces OEM stock cables or accessory tether lines attaching trunk lid to body on all King and chopped Tour Paks. Installation requires some drilling of both the box and cover but is a simple 10-minute exercise that can be accomplished with just a hand drill. Once in use, the lid doesn’t fall to the extreme angle as the stock unit, providing a narrower profile when parking in tight spots. You can also lock the Brace in the open position, preventing the lid from slamming shut due to an inopportune gust of wind. The package comes with stainless mounting hardware and is being offered at the introductory price of $69.99 (standard pricing is 10 bucks more).

Multi-tasking
In a world where innovation is increasing faster than cubic inches, many bikes are now a rolling collection of gadgets and electronic wizardry. The new PRO-DASH App by Marlin’s Accessories is meant to help clear the clutter. This iPhone App features the most commonly requested dashboard features: speedometer, thermometer, a clock, altimeter, compass, vehicle locator and maintenance log. Designed to be used in conjunction with a GPS signal and iPhone 3G or newer, the face features five gauges. Tap on any gauge face and it moves to the center and increases in size for easy reading. You can also toggle between English and metric units. The Vehicle Locator allows you to mark the GPS location of your bike and backtrack it later (there goes your lame excuse to the missus explaining why you were running late after the rally). The maintenance log allows you to record dates, mileage and notes for future reference. Available at the Apple App Store (itunes.com/apps/prodash), the one time download fee will run you $3.99.
