An open primary is cool looking but can rattle like a handful of bolts in a coffee can. The new Enclosed Primary Drive for Softail, FXR and Shovelhead Models by Belt Drives Limited tames the racket by not only housing the kit inside the stock primary but, being manufactured with Kevlar on round-dog aluminum plates, the company’s new “Quiet Clutch” significantly reduces clutch rattle. A uniquely-designed clutch basket carries 12 cylindrical (and replaceable) clutch dogs that provide silky clutch engagement, enhanced performance and longevity. Each kit comes with a billet aluminum pressure plate secured by nine shoulder bolts with specially-designed springs, a BDL Kevlar belt and a sealed bearing for the inner primary.
